When I made it for the first time, the batter almost overflowed in the oven – I didn’t realize the dough rises like crazy, and my pan was, of course, a bit small. I know you’ve also experienced pouring too much and ending up with a “volcano” at the bottom of the oven. Anyway, since then, I’ve learned not to get too excited with overly full pans.
